Penguin
Penguin is a family of advanced fire and forget anti-ship-missiles launched from various naval and airborne platforms such as fast patrol boats and helicopters.
The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is Prime Contractor for Penguin, and Nammo has made Penguin Rocket Motors since the early 1970’s.
The various Rocket Motor variants are tailored to different launch platforms. The naval and helicopter versions both have two stages of performance (boost and sustain) combined into one motor structure. Initially a short boost phase provides rapid acceleration up to high subsonic cruising speed, followed by a long lasting sustain phase with sufficient thrust to maintain the velocity during flight.
The highly successful helicopter version of PENGUIN (MK2 Mod 7) has been exported to several countries worldwide.
